I gave birth 8 months ago and until now, I am trying desperately to lose the extra pounds I gained while I was pregnant. It is inevitable to gain weight while having a baby in the belly and it is needed to have a healthy baby. I am writing this article to help out mothers out there who wants to lose the pounds gained during pregnancy.
Here are a few tips to help in losing the post baby weight.
Exercise. We need to raise up our heart rate in order to burn fat. While our heart is beating fast, it pumps our blood faster in our body, therefore, making our body utilize our fat storage to fuel up our activity. If you're not used to exercise, start with 10 minutes a day and gradually go up to 30 minutes up to 60 minutes a day. Dancing, brisk walking with the baby, or just running in place is a good way to raise up the heart rate.
Eat 4 to 5 meals a day. It might sound hilarious, when you're trying to lose weight and you're increasing the number of meals you eat a day but it's proven that eating light meals every 3 to 4 hours in a day jump starts your metabolism. Starvation is a NO-NO. When you don't eat, your body goes to starvation mode, so when you eat a meal, instead of burning the meal, your body would store it knowing that you won't eat again for quiet a while. Starving also eats up your muscle mass and that makes you weak.
Drink plenty of water. Water helps to hydrate our body. It is needed so our food could be converted to energy.
Avoid sugarry and fatty foods. Halloween has just passed, so I know most moms out there are nibbling on the free chocolates that the kids got from trick or treating. But we have to stop ourselves from consuming all those sugarry treats. Chocolate contains very high calories and most of the time, our body stores sugar as fat. Softdrinks is also a source of a lot of sugar so limit the intake of sodas and chocolates.
Watch what you eat. Like I said previously, eat 4-5 times a day, but you have to make sure you eat the right food as well. Salad greens and vegetables such as brocolli is a very good source of energy but has a very low calorie-content. We also need some proteins but make sure we eat lean meat cuts and chunk away the fats.
Have enough sleep. Our body rejuvenates itself while we're sleeping. It is when we sleep that our body heals itself. So make sure that you get enough sleep every night by sleeping the same time every night if possible to get your body into a schedule.
Eat breakfast. A lot of us don't eat breakfast. We think that we would lose weight that way but no, our body needs food after fasting all night long. We need to break the fast by eating breakfast.
And remember that it took us 9 whole months to gain weight, so we need a lot of time to lose it, don't kick yourself in the butt if you're still carrying your preggy pounds, you will shed it a little bit at a time. Just stick with this tips and you will see that that you're wearing your pre-baby jeans a couple of months from now.
